Because of bacteria that get into the tooth through caries or through microcracks, or because of dental trauma, the dental pulp (= tooth pulp, consisting of connective tissue with blood vessels and nerve fibres) can become inflamed or die.
If the dental pulp is dead or inflamed to such an extent that healing is no longer possible, root canal treatment is necessary. If the tooth remains untreated, the inflammation can spread further beyond the root tip into the jawbone.
Furthermore, this process can lead to severe pain, which makes immediate treatment necessary.
How is a root canal treatment performed?
Root canal treatment is a highly complex treatment that is crucial for the long-term preservation of your tooth.
It involves removing the infected tissue from the root of the tooth, cleaning the root canal thoroughly, and disinfecting it. For optimal access and a better overview, our team also has a high-resolution surgical microscope at its disposal. This guarantees you the best possible treatment result.
After the inflammation has healed, the root canal is filled with a dense root filler and sealed with a plastic filling.
The aim of this root canal treatment is to preserve the diseased tooth.
In our dental practice we do not make any compromises when it comes to root canal treatments.
With Dr. Charlotte Schrader as a specialist dentist in the field of endodontology, we can rely on an optimal result in root canal treatments.
